“Webelos” is a special Scouting term created from the phrase “We‘ll Be Loyal Scouts.”
The Webelos rank is divided into two parts: Webelos I for Cub Scouts in the fourth grade, and Webelos II for Cub Scouts in the fifth grade.
By the Webelos II year, Cub Scouts are seriously preparing for the Boy Scout program.
These boys continue to work on earning both the Webelos rank badge and the Arrow of Light, Cub Scouting’s highest honor. They also start to visit local Boy Scout troops to decide which they will join in the spring.
The Cub Scouting experience for these boys culminates at the pack’s Blue & Gold Banquet, which is held each February. At that time, the boys are officially welcomed into the Boy Scout troop they have decided to join.
