Amazing Race Campout
Western Districts Cub Scout Overnighter
2 p.m. Sat., Sept. 30 -noon Sun., Oct. 1
Firelands Scout Reservation / Wakeman
Join Pack 102 for a fun fall campout at Firelands Scout Reservation. BB guns, fishing, knot-tying, and a campfire with the Boy Scouts are a few of the highlights of this one-night tent campout. Firelands is about 35 minutes from Olmsted Falls and is where Pack 102 attended day camp this summer. This event replaces the fall campout at Cleveland Metroparks that Pack 102 has attended the last few years. Cost is $10 per Scout and $5 per adult and includes a campsite with Pack 102, dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. When registering, select “Lake Erie Council” as your council; “Pack” as your unit type; and Unit Number “0102.” Also print off medical forms Parts A and B, which are required by our district for each Scout and adult attending; bring these with you to the campout. Need a tent? Contact Cubmaster Kevin Klinect or Assistant Cubmaster Jennifer Seward. Information and registration: http://councils.scouting.org/Council440/Camping/Cub%20Scout%20Camps/Day%20Camp
The theme for this year’s day camp is “Bug Hunters.” Camp will be at Firelands Scout Reservation and include more activities than ever, such as archery, BB guns, fishing, hiking, and swimming. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Scouts should bring lunch and water each day. Camp is also open to Scout siblings and Scout-aged friends, and a free “tot lot” is available to adult volunteers with young (but out of diapers) children. Cost is $75 per Scout/camper. Transportation is available for $50 per person for the week, with pick up and drop off near Recess Games, located at 26636 Brookpark Road Extension in North Olmsted. Pack 102 must send one adult volunteer for every five youth from the pack.
Please note: There is no longer a requirement to send an adult with each non-Scout attending. However, these campers count toward the requirement that we send one adult volunteer for every five campers. Please consider volunteering! Med Forms Parts A, B, AND C, including a PHYSICAL, are required forms for each person attending camp, volunteers included. Note that even if you have forms A and B on file with Pack 102, you must fill out new forms for the Northeast Ohio Council. Find the med forms here: http://www.scouting.org/filestore/HealthSafety/pdf/680-001_ABC.pdf
Finally, a correction to the April Pack 102 newsletter: The correct dates for camp were listed, but the session number was incorrect. Pack 102 is attending Western Day Camp Session No. 2.
